El Camp de les Lloses is a Roman-Republican vicus whose activity lasted no more than 50 years, 125-75 BC, but with another phase, residual, dated late 1st century AD. It is noted for the singularity and quality of its findings, which was one of the reasons for its declaration as Cultural Property of National Interest by the Catalan Government in 1995. This declaration facilitated and allowed the necessary continuity to consolidate the archaeological works and achieve the creation of the park and the Interpretive Centre, inaugurated in 2006.
Archaeological campaigns, visits, workshops, conferences, touristic-cultural walks or activities related to experimental archeology are regularly organised and carried out in the El Camp de les Lloses Archaeological Park. In order to promote and enhance many of these activities, and combine them with other more generic actions coming from Tona and the Osona district in a more efficient manner, the operating of an autonomous entity, but necessary linked to the site and the Interpretaive Center which could assume part of thier management, seemed a good option. That was the reason why four people decided to join forces and create the acuCALL with the aim at supporting the initiatives concerning the promotion of cultural heritage coming from the El Camp de les Lloses Archaeological Park, the town of Tona and the Osona district in general: Mrs. Imma Mestres and Mrs. Montse Duran, directors of the El Camp de les Lloses archaeological excavations and responsibles for its Interpretive Centre; Dr. Jordi Principal, researcher at the Archaeological Museum of Catalonia (MAC), hellenistic pottery specialist and director of several Iberian and Roman archaeoligical sites; and Mr. Carles Padrós, historian and archaeologist from Tona, involved in the El Camp de les Lloses project for over ten years.
The present Board of Directors consists of the following members: Mrs. I. Mestres, president; Mrs. M. Duran, secretary; Dr. J. Principal, treasurer; Mr. C. Padrós, trustee. Needless to say, the people composing the Board are the ones who created the Association; but many other people close to El Camp de les Lloses are accompanying us from the very beginning, people participating in this project since its inception, 20 years ago; or more recently, on the occasion of the the launch of the Interpretaive Centre, which celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2011!!
You can download the acuCALL regulations from here, to lern more about its purposes, aims, characteristics and operating. As it can be seen in Art. 5 of the regualitons, the acuCALL is composed by fellows, who pay a fee and share all the rights and duties within the Association. It is also possible to become "honorary fellow" by being proposed as such by the Board or by a third of the Association fellows and receive a majority of votes in the General Assembly. An "honorary fellow" enjoys all the rights of a regular one, but the eligibility for the association Governing Bodies. Likewise, he/she is exempt from any fee.
Those interested in becoming fellows must download and print the form, fill it out and bring it or send it to the El Camp de les Lloses Interpretative Centre, which is also the acuCALL headquarters. We hope you are interested in joining the Association and made possible the launch of new initiatives and activities.
